Besties, here are my most recent travel hacks that have saved me tons of money and provided me the most enjoyment. Whether you're a seasoned globetrotter or a novice explorer, here are some savvy tips, tricks, and insider knowledge that will transform the way you travel. From budget-friendly hacks to time-saving strategies and hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Travel Hack #1: Bring an empty water bottle in your bag so you don’t have to pay for water at the airport or at your destination. On my most recent trip to Hawaii, we saved over $500 on water by using the water filter provided in our Air Bnb in Oahu where a 12 oz bottle of water was $5.
Travel Hack #2: Book Air Bnb (be mindful of cleaning fees when comparing to hotels) when possible because it offers a more authentic feel to your travel experience. It often gives you more opportunity to save money because you can store your leftovers from dinner for the next day and possible cook quick, small meals. Recently at a luxury hotel in Miami, we pulled items out of the tiny refrigerator only to find out, we were charged for all of the items we pulled out just to keep our items cold so we had to put everything back. That was very inconvenient for a room we paid $400+ for.
Travel Hack #3: While on Air Bnb, look at the Experiences tab to see what activities you might be interested in. 9 out of 10 consumers prefer to shop local and Air Bnb Experiences allows you to meet locals in your travel destination and to discover hidden gems only for intimate groups.
Also, Air Bnb takes a fee of 20% (as opposed to 35-50% from TripAdvisor) from the person/business and ensures you are contributing to a local small business!
I hope you're inspired to embark on new horizons armed with invaluable insights. Remember, exploring the globe doesn't have to be expensive or complicated when you're armed with the right knowledge.
